The standard pod
One Pod. Plenty of Space.
Every pod is the same size: 2m long × 1.5m wide × 2m high. That is six cubic metres, and it typically takes the contents of a small one-bedroom flat — a bed, a lounge suite, a fridge and the boxes that go with them.

Need more room? Take a second pod, or a tenth. You pay per pod per month, so the price follows what you actually use rather than a unit size you guessed at.

Pods are sealed, numbered and stored inside an access-controlled warehouse rather than in an outdoor yard.
Getting to your things
By appointment
Pods are stacked, so we need notice to bring yours down. Tell us a day ahead and it will be waiting at the front.
Or we deliver it
Order the whole pod back to your door, or ask us to bring specific items out for collection.

Maitland for Cape Town, Selby for Johannesburg. Office hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Good to know
- No deposit required. Pay your first month and the signed contract, and the pod is yours.
- Pods are always available. Unlike our drive-up units, which are close to full, there is no practical cap on valet pods in either city.
- Secure your belongings inside the pod. Pods are stacked and moved, so pack so that nothing shifts, and seal the pod yourself.
- Some things can’t be stored. No hazardous, illegal or perishable items. Defrost the fridge and drain the mower before collection day.
- Arrange cover for your goods. Cape Storit insures the facility, but does not insure belongings stored inside your pod. Please arrange your own contents insurance.
- Pay your way. Pay online by card, by EFT, or set up a debit order.
Ready to book? Reserve online and we’ll email your invoice and storage contract. Your booking is confirmed once we receive payment and the signed contract; unpaid reservations are cancelled after 24 hours.
Valet Storage: Common Questions
What is valet storage?
We bring a wooden storage pod to your door, help you load it, and take it back to our warehouse. When you want your things again, we deliver the pod back to you. You never have to hire a truck or drive to a storage facility.
How big is a pod, and how many will I need?
Each pod is 2m long, 1.5m wide and 2m high — six cubic metres, roughly the contents of a small one-bedroom flat. A two or three-bedroom house is usually five to eight pods. Send us photographs of each room, or use our storage calculator, and we’ll size it before you pay anything.
What does it cost?
R750 per pod per month, in both cities. There is no deposit. Collection and delivery are quoted separately depending on where you are.
Where do you collect from?
Across the Cape Town metro and the Winelands, and across Johannesburg, Pretoria, the East Rand and the Vaal. The full list is on this page. If your suburb is not on it, ask — we usually still reach it.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No. Cape Storit does not take a deposit at any of our sites. You pay your first month’s rental, sign the storage contract, and we collect.
Can I get to my things while they are in storage?
Yes. Pods are stacked in the warehouse, so we need notice to bring yours down — tell us a day ahead and it will be waiting at the front. You can also order the whole pod delivered back to your door.
What if I don’t want delivery?
You are welcome to bring your items to the warehouse yourself, or arrange collection with 24 hours’ notice.
How long can I store for?
As long as you need. Rental is month to month with two weeks’ notice to end, so a short storage period between homes costs you nothing extra.
Can I add or return pods later?
Yes. Take a second pod when you need it, and return a pod when you don’t — you stop paying for it from that month.
What can’t I store?
Hazardous, illegal and perishable items are not allowed. Defrost and dry the fridge and drain fuel from anything with an engine before collection day. If you’re unsure about something, ask us first.
Is insurance provided for the goods stored in my pod?
Cape Storit does not provide insurance coverage for the goods stored inside your pod. While we insure the storage facility itself, it is your responsibility to obtain insurance coverage for your stored belongings. We highly recommend that you secure insurance coverage to protect your goods against potential risks or damage. Please consult with your insurance provider to explore suitable options for insuring your stored items.
How do I pay?
We offer multiple payment options, including credit card payments online, electronic funds transfer (EFT), or setting up a debit order.
